Setting: Present-day, America, late spring.
Factions:
In this world, there are two groups. The Vampires, who rule the night with bloodthirsty desires and superhuman abilities, and the Hunters, dedicated to fighting and eradicating these dark menaces.
Within these groups, though, are many, many subdivisions.
The main two divisions of the Vampires are, simply put, good and evil.
Dark Vampires: Pure evil. These Vampires lose their human souls when they are Turned, and are instead taken over by demonic spirits that drive them to lust for blood and seek power wherever it may lie. They tend to be loners, scorning company for fear of the competition it may bring. They only band together in times of need or to carry out a sinister plot hatched by one or more of them recruiting the others. Occasionally, though, a large clan may be found in secret consisting of perhaps one or two powerful Vampires and myriad fledglings they've made.
Lethan Vampires: Legend has it that hundreds of years ago, a large family of nobles called the Lethos Family was once a prominent name in Europe. When the land was struck by famine, and the family suffering, a Dark Vampire chanced upon their land and afflicted the youngest member of the family. The child in turn Turned the rest of his family (Accidentally,) but together they resisted the Dark urges to feast upon the humans around them, taking only blood from the animals on nearby farms, and with time, their human souls beat back the demons in their hearts. Wishing to take brides and grooms, the children Turned lovers, and discovered that through their own self-denial, they were able to pass their strength onto their Turned, and strengthen their human spirits so they would not be lost like those of a Dark Vampire.
Lethan Vampires tend to group together with others of their kind to form small covens of perhaps five or less, and have also been known to join the Human-Vampire Alliance. They can drink human blood, but generally fear that it may weaken their souls and leave them more susceptible to the demon that may or may not reside in their heart, and thus feed strictly on animal blood, which, though less tasteful or filling, serves their needs. (See Below)
The Hunters, likewise, are generally grouped into various stereotypes.
Bounty Hunter: These guys kill first and ask questions later. They do their job for the high pay and the thrill of the hunt. Can be sometimes rash and inexperienced, though.
Vampiric Hunters: Generally distrusted, though a few have made themselves prominent figured of the Alliance. These Lethan Vampires are dedicated Hunters of Dark Vampires. They usually despise what they are and were Turned against their will, hating how they have to feed and never age. Hating their unnaturalness. They use their superhuman abilities to match those they hunt.
Grudge Hunters: These guys are hard-core. Something in their past was ruined by Vampires, and they're out to kill them all. Their lives are dedicated to destroying these foul creatures, and they don't believe in a difference between Dark and Lethan Vampires, distrusting them all. Usually the most elite of Hunters, and feared even by the Vampires themselves for their skill and dedication.
